ROCK HALL, Md. - Elsie Kyoko M. Brawley of Rock Hall died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007, at Chester River Manor, Chestertown. She was 75.
Mrs. Brawley was born in Tokyo on March 21, 1932, daughter of the late Michio and Ito Kondo Miura.
She attended school in Japan until her father's death during World War II. She left school to work in order to support her family.
Mrs. Brawley later met Herb Brawley, a master sergeant with the U.S. Air Force. They married Jan. 4, 1952, and moved to the United States.
She earned her U.S. citizenship in 1955.
They resided in Long Beach, Calif., and due to his military career they moved to many states and various countries until his retirement from active duty in 1967. They resided in Tacoma Park before moving to Rock Hall.
Mrs. Brawley was a member of the Ladies of the Rock Hall Lions Club.
Her philanthropic passion was appreciated by many needy causes.
Mrs. Brawley loved gardening and was known for her beautiful rose garden.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Kimber C. Brawley and his wife Michelle of Bellevue, Wash., and Kevin R. Brawley and his wife Donna of Prince Frederick; a daughter, Janet K. Tocknell and her husband David of Wheaton; a sister, Yuko Miura of Tokyo; her grandchildren, James Earle Tocknell, Shauna Ito Tocknell, Lori E. Tocknell, Katie I. Tocknell and P. Emiko Brawley; along with one great-grandchild, Charles Tocknell.
Private graveside services will be Sunday at Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Rock Hall.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of choice.
