Ellen Ruth Barnes

DOVER - Ellen Ruth Barnes, of Dover, passed away as a result of years of illness, Thursday, March 12, 2015, in Kent General Hospital. She was 76. Ellen was born, August 12, 1938, in Cyprus, Greece, to the late, Soloman & Edith (Hirsch) Sattler. She came to the United States at eight years old from Israel with her parents. She married at the age of 18 to Ronald Colbert. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her children, Elizabeth & Ronald Colbert, Jr. Ellen was a loving, kind, good hearted person. As a mother, no matter what, any way she could, she made sacrifices throughout her life. She also loved nature and animals. Ellen is survived by three children, Ronnalene Colbert, of Felton, Chris Colbert, of Virginia and Susan Tatman, of Magnolia; a brother, John Sattler, of Arizona; a sister, Rose Ida Rehman, of Arlington, Va.; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Services will be 12 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2015, in Calvary Assembly of God, 1141 E. Lebanon Rd., Dover; where family and friends may view two hours before. Burial will follow in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to www.aspca.org or call 1-800-628-0028.
