MILFORD - Elizabeth M. Johnson of Milford passed away, after a long illness, Friday, May 11, 2007, in her home. She was 91.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Felton, daughter of the late Carroll and Effa (Townsend) Parvis.
She worked as a licensed practical nurse in the Philadelphia area for many years.
She wrote articles for the Milford Chronicle, and was an artist and a published poetry. She liked vacationing and walking on the beach. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the national AARP.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Townsend Parvis and Josiah Parvis.
She is survived by a son and a daughter-in-law, Samuel C. and Grace Johnson of Milford; a daughter and a son-in-law, Sharon E. and Charles M. Pingue of Glenside, Pa.; two brothers, Thomas E. Parvis of Butler, Pa., and Charles B. Parvis of Barbersville, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Bob Pingue, and his wife, Melissa, Chuck Pingue, Beth Anne Pingue, Annette Miller, and her husband, Dean, and Deborah Kresse, and her husband, Brian; eight great-grandchildren, Bryan Pingue, Sharon Pingue, Libby Seaman, Hunter Seaman, Joseph Tracy, Christopher Miller, Gary Miller and Brianna Kresse.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 N.W. Front St., Milford, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milford.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Calvary United Methodist Church, 301 S.E. Front St., Milford, DE 19963; or to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. Du Pont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
