DOVER - Elizabeth 'B.J.' Jeanne Peters, née Rivers passed from this life into glory on March 22, 2022.
She was born October 28, 1950, to Audrey Swain Todd Briel Rivers and William Clermont Rivers in Baltimore, Md. and spent her childhood in Woodlawn, Md. She graduated from Woodlawn High School and received her Radiologic Technologist degree at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore. In the 1970s, B.J. worked as an X-ray technologist and performed as a musician at many local venues in the Delmarva region. She married Herbert 'Pete' James Peters in 1977. In the 1980s and 1990s, she created decorative art sold locally at craft shows as well as around the world at gift shops. The most popular of these was a Nativity scene series called "The School Play." More recently, she devoted her life to researching her ancestry and always had a new story of family history to share at every visit.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete, in 2019, by her parents, and three sisters: Patricia Rivers, Mary McGee, and Audra Rivers.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Katherine "Kate" Bulson (Richard); Kenneth "Herbie" Peters, who was his mom's loving and devoted caregiver; and Anne "Annie" Mitchell (Kory). She is also survived by her siblings, their spouses, and their children: Margaret Ferguson and her sons, Ian and Colin; William Rivers and his daughter, Melanie, and his son, Keith; Joan Bousman (Brent); and Thomas Rivers (Mary) and their daughter, Isabella Fowler. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters in Christ from Whatcoat Church in Camden, Del., where she was an active member for many years, teaching Sunday School, leading Bible study, and singing in the church's Praise Band.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Samaritan's Purse International Relief. Celebration of Life gatherings will be planned for a later date.
