Wennington, 59
DOVER, DE - Elizabeth J. Wennington peacefully departed from this world on Monday, April 8th, 2024 after a courageous battle with long-term health struggles. Throughout her journey, Elizabeth faced every challenge with remarkable strength, grace, and unwavering determination. She never allowed adversity to diminish her spirit or hinder her zest for life.
Elizabeth was born on September 27, 1964, in Montreal, Canada. She attended primary school at Beacon Hill Elementary School in Beaconsfield, Quebec, and later moved to Long Island, NY, where she graduated from Half Hollow Hills East High School, Dix Hills, New York in 1983. She spent the remainder of her years living in Dover, Delaware. Elizabeth worked at the Dover Air Force Base for Blind Industries for over 20 years as a retail associate. She found joy in her daily work routine, approaching her tasks with dedication and pride in her contribution to the military. Anyone who worked with Elizabeth was consistently moved by her kindness, compassionate nature, and enduring optimism.
In her free time, Elizabeth loved to sing and listen to music, spend time with family and friends, and cheer on the Philadelphia Eagles. She had a great sense of humor that never failed to bring joy and laughter to those around her. She had a passion for crafting and took great pleasure in painting garden rocks. Her latest endeavor involved creating angel pins for individuals facing health challenges, offering them a message of resilience and the importance of taking each day as it comes. She immensely enjoyed helping others, possessing an innate ability to uncover the silver lining in any circumstance, and providing a guiding light of positivity to persevere through challenges. Elizabeth's greatest joy came from spending quality time playing with her cherished dog and companion, Lucy. To Elizabeth, Lucy wasn't merely a pet but a beloved member of her family, infusing her life with boundless love and happiness.
Elizabeth J. Wennington is survived by her brothers, William Wennington (Anne), and Nicholas Wennington; and sister, Margaret Middleton (Michael); nieces and nephews, Robert, Taylor, Michael, Joshua, and Maggie. Preceding her in death was her son, Jacob; along with her father, William F. Wennington; her mother, Elswyth J. Harrison; and stepfather, Gary Harrison.
The family is forever grateful to Elizabeth's special friend, Ron Nix, for his invaluable love and support for Elizabeth over the last several years.
Elizabeth was a source of inspiration to those around her. Though her physical presence may be gone, her memory will forever live on in the hearts and minds of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Friends may call on Sunday, April 14th from 10 am -12 pm at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St., Dover, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
