Edwin Bentley Mowen, 76

MILLSBORO - Edwin Bentley Mowen, passed away Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, in his home. He was 76. Mr. Mowen was born Sept. 22, 1932, in Hagerstown, Md., to the late James Thurman and Mary Catherine Basore Mowan. Mr. Mowen retired from the U.S. Government, as an analyst for the NSA after 38 years of service and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He attended Mary Mother of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Millsboro. Mr. Mowen was preceded in death by his wife, Hannah Mowen in 2006. He is survived by a son, James Adam Mowen and wife Anna Joest Andersen of Vennjeberg, Denmark; daughter, Onna Outten and husband Gregory J. of Georgetown; brother, Donald R. Mowen of Hagerstown, Md.; and two grandchildren, Olivia and Nicklas. A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, at the Central Worship Center, Sycamore Road, Laurel. Pastor Tim Dukes will officiate. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, at the St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, in Hagerstown, Md. Fr. Colin Poston will officiate.
