Edna M. "Susie" Bittner, 89

DOVER - Edna M. "Susie" Bittner of Kenton Road, Dover, passed away Monday, Sept. 3, 2007, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 89.

Susie was born Aug. 1, 1918, in Marydel, to the late Jefferson and Rachel (Donovan) Larimore.

She grew up in Burrsville, until she married and moved to Dover.

Susie accepted God in to her life at an early age and rejoiced in him every day.

She worked at Kirby and Holloway for many years and was remembered by many of the patrons of the restaurant for her sparkling blue eyes and beautiful smile.

Everyone that came in contact with Susie couldn"t help being uplifted by her wonderful spirit. She loved everyone without judging them and they in turn loved her.

She later went into the nursing profession, and did practical nursing for many patients. She brought God into many of their lives and when they passed on, they did so with God in their life. Her special patients were Miss Irene and Nate Lisker, the latter whom she tended for more then 20 years.

Susie was a friend and "mother" to all that she came in contact with.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and was expecting her first great-great-granddaughter in November, and was looking forward to seeing her. She loved them all with the fierceness of a mother lion protecting her cubs.

Susie was also known for her love of flowers. She had a flower garden that was 3/4 of an acre and she nurtured, tended and loved her flowers. She took flowers to many people just to brighten their day. Her special garden love was her roses, which she had many different ones. She gave her flowers the same love she gave to any one she came in contact with and they thrived on her love.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Bittner; two sons, George Balderson and Michael Bittner; a grandson, George Balderson Jr.; and all of her siblings.

She is survived by a son, Danny G. Bittner of Dover; her special daughters-in-law that were like daughters to her, Louise Balderson of Dover, and Debbie Boaman of Rockedge, Fla.; her grandchildren, Nina Bunting, Shane Bittner, Corey McKinney, Addison Bittner, Brooke Bittner, Casey Bittner and Saje Bittner; and her great-grandchildren, Thomas T.J. Bunting, Dawna Bunting and Kevin Bunting.

Celebration of life services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Worship Christian Center, South Street, Camden, where friends may call one hour earlier. The Rev. Harry Harris will be officiating. Burial will be at the Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

The family requests that loved ones accept God into their lives and thank him for the beautiful gift of Susie"s life. Since she loved her animals, in honor of her loving and giving nature, memorial contributions may be given to the Kent County SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden-Wyoming, DE 19934.
