Edna E. Tumulty

MILFORD - Edna E. Tumulty, of Milford, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011. She was 98. Edna was born in Topton, Pa., on May 22, 1912, daughter of Leon and Sallie (Dankel) Fenstermacher. She was a feisty, kind and valiant mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and wife, and was deeply committed to the well-being of her family. She was a superb cook and loved crossword puzzles, card games, and the daily jumble. She graduated from Allentown Business College in 1930 and was a secretary at Pyramid Silk Mills, Egypt, Pa., for 6 years and PP&L Co., Allentown, Pa., for 2 years. She was the Office Manager and Payroll Supervisor at J. Rudolph Pocketbook Factory in Easton, Pa., for 29 years. Edna retired at 82 years of age after completing 18 years as an administrative assistant in the Warren County Office on the Aging in Belvidere, N.J. Her life-long spirit of dedication to her work and co-workers was admirable. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Betsy and Joe Rybczynski of Milford; a sister, Jean Szoke of Breingsville, Pa.; son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Bob and Sharon Swissler of Titusville, N.J.; two granddaughters and husbands, Amy and Bill Hutnik of Hopewell, N.J.; and Becky and Major Mark Murphy of San Diego, Calif.; and two great-grandchildren, Daisy and Chance Hutnik; three sisters-in-law, Jackie Fenstermacher, Lyons Station, Pa., Nellie Tumulty, Phillipsburg, N.J., and Margaret Bahash of Jamesburg, N.J.; nieces and nephews, Lori and Bob Greenawalt of Manassas, Va.; Curt and Elaine Fenstermacher, Gilbertsville, Pa.; and Bart and Erin Fenstermacher, Lyons Station, Pa. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sally Ann Swissler; husbands, Joe Ryan, Jr., Sid Crotsley, and Andy Tumulty; two brothers, Clayton and Glenn Fenstermacher; and sister, Helen. Funeral services were held on February 16, in Pennington, N.J., with interment in Harbourton Cemetery.
