Dorothy Smith Harris

MILFORD - Dorothy Smith Harris passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 23, 2018 at Milford Center.
Dorothy was born in Greenwood, daughter of the late Herman D. and Mary (Jenkins) Smith.
She, along with her husband, owned and operated John T. Harris in Milford for many years. Dorothy was the bookkeeper for the company and lovingly supported her husband at the business and as a wonderful homemaker to her children and family.
Dorothy loved spending time with her family, crafting ceramics and collecting glass baskets and chicken décor.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, William R. Harris; a sister, Elizabeth Johnson; a brother, Leon D. Smith; and daughter in law, Jean Harris.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 69 years, John T. Harris; two sons, Ronald Harris of Vanceburg, Ky. and John Wayne Harris and wife Brenda of Milford; four grandchildren, Sabrina Marland, Jeffrey Harris, Donna Martini and Melissa Harris; three great grandchildren, Ryan Marland, Amber Wilson and Kyle Martini; five sisters, Pearl DeFord of Greenwood, Hannah Cohee of Harrington, Frances Carmean of Milford, Alverta Roberts of Lincoln and Joyce Trader of Milford; one brother, Herman Smith, Jr., of Lincoln; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018 in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, with a time of visitation for family and friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will immediately follow at Milford Community Cemetery.
