Dorothy Mae Short Valencourt

Dorothy Mae Short Valencourt GEORGETOWN - Dorothy Mae Short Valencourt, of Georgetown, passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2010, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. She was 88. Dorothy was born in Georgetown, the daughter of the late Paul B. and Maggie J. (Wilson) Short. She was a switchboard operator for the Diamond State Telephone Company for 25 years retiring in 1977. She was a good mother and enjoyed baseball games, sporting events and going out for a ride. In addition to her parents, her husband, Richard L.Valencourt in 1997, preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Larry Valencourt and his fiancé Jeannette Carpenter of Newark, and Margaret V. Lingo and Pete Grigoraskos of Georgetown; daughter-in-law, Mary Reed and her husband Brad of Wilmington; three grandchildren, Robert W. Lingo III and his wife Lisa, James R. Valencourt, and Michael L. Valencourt and his wife Dawn; one great-granddaughter, Victoria Lingo; and extended family who loved her. Services will be private. Arrangements handled by Short Funeral Services, Georgetown.
