She was born on Aug. 15, 1935 in Elfers, Fla., daughter of the late Melvin and Nellie Morris Harper.
Dorothy was a homemaker but had worked at various jobs throughout her life.
She enjoyed gardening, flowers and music. Dorothy was a devoted mother. She will be remembered by her family for her unconditional love. She was willing to do all she could for everybody. Her great delight was her grandchildren and her greatest delight was the great grands. Her affections will be greatly missed. While she was able, she attended Calvary Methodist Church, Marydel.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Harold Daufenbach, in 2011.
Dorothy is survived by a son, Melvin Daufenbach of Marydel; two daughters, Carla Daufenbach and long time companion Dr. Robert Gorkin of Marydel and Pamela and her husband Rev. Brian Bright of Felton; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two brothers, William and Wayne Harper both of Florida; and a sister, Norma Jean Raynes of South Carolina; and a very close friend, "Sister," Orelia Browne.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2018 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather one hour earlier. Burial will follow in Thomas Chapel Cemetery, Chapeltown.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to her adopted family in Belize, payable to God's Missionary Church, 1616 Lords Corner Rd., Felton, DE 19943.
