Doris Parker, 68

DOVER - Doris Parker, of Dover, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 68.

Mrs. Parker was born Sept. 7, 1939, in Portsmouth, Va., to the late Clarence Olga Peay and Laura Mae Beasley Peay.

Mrs. Parker was a homemaker who enjoyed bowling, crafts and making homemade Easter baskets for her grandchildren.

She was an avid reader and adored spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Parker had also volunteered at the Dover Air Force Base pharmacy.

Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas F. Parker, on Jan. 18, 1987; and by her brother, Edward Peay.

She is survived by her son, Thomas E. Parker and his wife Maryann of Dover; three daughters, Doris Ridenour and her husband Dennis of Felton, Tammy Hinspeter and her husband Mike of Dover, Virginia Gachler and her husband Vance of Dover; her brother, Lawrence Peay of California; two sisters, Joyce Ann Allen of Elizabeth, N.C., and Laura Mae Bateman of Chesapeake, Va.; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great- grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, where friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Sunday.

Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
