Doris Ann Hackendorn, 76
HARTLY - Doris Ann Hackendorn "Rachael" passed away Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Kent General Hospital.
Mrs. Hackendorn was born May 10, 1944 in North East, Maryland to the late Jesse Lee Mowbrey and Thelma Dean Mowbrey.
She was raised in North East, Maryland and had worked in the Laundry Department at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington then to Smyrna where she studied to become a hair dresser. Mrs. Hackendorn worked for JC Penny's and then went into partnership with Ruth Ann Gingerich "Main Line Hair Design" in Smyrna after 5 years she sold the business and became a manager of receiving for Walmart, retiring after 17 years. She enjoyed being in the outdoors, spending time with her family, friends and fur babies and just loved to have a good time.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Raymond Payne Hackendorn, Jr. and daughter, Jessica Reed.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Raymond P. Hackendorn, Sr. of Hartly; daughter, Teresa Williams (Mark Kohout, Jr.) of Hartly; brother, Jesse "Sonny" Mowbrey (Lois) of Elkton, MD; grandchildren, Lisa Marie Hackendorn, Wayne Hackendorn (Charlene Waters), Aaron Hackendorn (Dave Hall) and Rebecca Reed (Josh Zlock) and many great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. Dupont Highway, Dover, DE 19901 or First State Animal Shelter and SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934.
