Doris A. Howell, 79

MILTON - Doris A. Howell of Milton passed away peacefully Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, at Rocky Mountain Care Center, Clearfield, Utah. She was 79.

Doris was born Dec. 14, 1927, to the late John Ernest and Bertha (Morris) Adams, in Laurel.

She was a retired employee of L.D. Caulk Co., Milford, after more than 22 years of service.

After retirement, Doris continued to work at the Milton Public Library.

She was an active member of Goshen United Methodist Church, Milton. She taught Sunday school classes, was a former president of the United Methodist Women, and was a worthy matron of the Eastern Star, Georgetown.

Doris was also an active member of the Milton Senior Center, and a former Girl Scout leader.

She loved playing cards and games, and was an avid Bridge player.

Doris also loved gardening, and was a master gardener, cooking, knitting, reading and traveling.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her first husband and father of their four children, Wilmer R. "Bud" Hudson Jr.; her second husband, Harry "Dutch" Howell; her brother, John E. Adams Jr.; and two sisters, Margarette Webb and Helen Adams.

She is survived by four children, Robert V. Hudson of Lincoln, Richard A. Hudson of Christmas, Fla., Michael W. Hudson of Ingram, Texas, and Cheryl A. Abele of Layton, Utah; five grandchildren; her brothers, Calvin Adams of Georgetown, Roscoe Adams of Georgetown, Clinton Adams of Hartly, Wilbert Adams of Dagsboro, and Robert Dale Adams of Ellendale; and her sisters, Jeannette Wingate of Dagsboro, Martha Landon of Milford, and Grace Byrd of Port Charlotte, Fla.

A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where the family will receive friends after 6 p.m. The Rev. Ellie Laws will officiate.

Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton, at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21.
