Donald Wayne McClary, 84
MARYDEL - Donald Wayne McClary, of Marydel, died Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. He was 84. Mr. McClary was born Jan. 21, 1925, in Gilmanton, N.H., to the late Arthur McClary and Clara Fields McClary. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy. Mr. McClary was a carpenter by trade and had owned Stapleford & McClary Builders, West Del Builders and Westside Builders. Mr. McClary owned and showed quarter horses most of his adult life. He was past president of the Delaware Quarter Horse Association. Mr. McClary enjoyed oil painting and crossword puzzles but his biggest love was spending time with his family. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Lydia McClary on Nov. 25, 1999. Mr. McClary is survived by his daughters, Barbara Dickinson and her husband Donald of Frederica and Carol A. Collison and her husband Roy J. Sr. of Wyoming; his brother, Guy B. McClary of Greenwood; his sister, Frances Lagueux of Laconia, N.H.; four grandchildren, James Hutchison, Jr. and his fiancé Nicole Morris, Vicki Leone and her husband Sal, Kelly McGory and her husband William, and Roy Collison, Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Nicklaus S. Leone and Courtney Morris. Funeral services will be noon today June 8, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover. Friends may call two hours prior. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
