Donald S. Appenzeller

Donald S. Appenzeller, known affectionately by his family and friends as Donny, entered his eternal rest on Jan. 4, 2019. He was born Nov. 18, 1978 in Dover to Donald and Mamie Appenzeller.
He grew up on the family farm and eventually changed career paths to form Appenzeller Construction in Cape Charles, Va. Donny was well known for his work ethic and attention to detail. His three children were his greatest joy and achievement, which was evident in the love and care he bestowed upon them.
He was preceded in death by his uncle, Samuel Faulkner Jr.; his maternal grandparents Samuel and Margaret Faulkner; his paternal grandparents Donald Appenzeller Sr. and Mary (Bettie) Appenzeller.
He is survived by his father and best friend Donald Appenzeller Jr. and his mother Mamie Appenzeller. Left to cherish his memory are his son Dustin Lee Appenzeller, Amy Taylor and their twin daughters Emma Margaret and Taylor Ann Appenzeller, along with his constant companion, his black lab, Bear; his brother and cousin Daniel Cornell Jr. (Anne & son Caden), cousin Joseph MacDonald Jr. (Samantha & son S.J.) aunts Mary Scott (Scotty), Brenda DeVeau (Jay), Beth MacDonald, and cousin Lizzie MacDonald.
A graveside service will be conducted Friday, Janu. 11, 2019 at 12 p.m. with William J. "Bill" Jardine officiating. at the Appenzeller Family Cemetery, 21290 Bellevue Lane, Cape Charles, Va.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Donald S. Appenzeller Children's Trust, 21290 Bellevue Lane, Cape Charles, VA. 23310.
