CAMDEN, Del. - Donald Lee Shockley of Camden, Del. formerly of Georgetown, Del. passed away peacefully at Bayhealth Hospital, Dover, Del. on Sunday, March 6, 2022.
He was born in Dagsboro, Del. to Kendal and Ida Shockley on January 23, 1942.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his first wife, Elaine; their two children, Teresa and Donald, Jr.; two brothers, Daniel and Howard; and two sisters, Janet and Kathleen.
He is survived by his wife Amy of Camden, Del.; son, Daniel, (Jane and Jaxon) of Frankford, Del.; granddaughter, Jessica Schroeder (Chris) of Georgetown, Del.; sister, Ruth of Bradenton, Fla.; nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
A true patriot, Donald proudly served his country enlisting at the age of 17, in 1959; he served 20 years with the U.S. Navy Seabees, in among many other places, Vietnam and Desert Shield/Desert Storm, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Donald also served in the Delaware National Guard.
An accomplished technician, Donald was employed in the service department of Carl King, Inc., in Camden, Del., Quality Heating and Air Conditioning in Dover, Del. and Southern States and Peninsula Oil & Propane both in Sussex County, Del.
Donald will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service and burial will be held at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966 on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 11 a.m. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Donald's name to organizations of one's choice, especially those that benefit children and military veterans.
