Donald Lee Burris

Donald Lee Burris, 48

CAMDEN - Donald Lee Burris died Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, at his Camden home. He was 48.

Donald was born, along with his identical twin brother, Ronald Lynn, on May 15, 1959, to Myrtle Burris Jr. and the late Doris Browne Burris in Dover.

He graduated from Caesar Rodney High School. He received training in auto mechanics at VoTech, now known as Polytech High School.

Donald's last place of employment was at Centreville Manufacturing, where he was employed as a welder.

He spent his young life growing up as a member of Bibleway Temple Church of God in Christ, where he sang in the Sunshine Band and Youth choirs.

Donald was a joyous person who always had a smile. He will be remembered most for his giving heart and the love he had for his family.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Debora of Milford; four sons, Maurice Simmons (Kiania Carter), Donald Burris Jr., Ray Lee Thompson and Jermaine Caine, all of Dover; three stepsons, Jason Cahall of Camden, Travis Cahall of Dover and Miles Wilson of Smyrna; his father, Myrtle Burris Jr. and his wife Joan Draine Burris of Camden; one sister, Mary Ann Burris-Jackson of Camden; seven brothers, Myrtle III (Ethel Jean) of Felton, Houston Sr. (Patricia) of Felton, J.B. (Caroline) of Frederica, Edward (Suzette) of Camden, Craig of Camden, Ronald of Camden and Mark of Camden; his grandmother, Melvina Browne of Dover; four grandchildren, Desmond, Sairen, Elijah and Matthew; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; a special mother-in-law, Doris Cahall; and a special aunt, Ethel Meredith.

A viewing will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover.

Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Bibleway COGIC, Kirkwood Street, Dover, where friends may view one hour prior.

Burial will be private.
