Dewey C. Evans, Sr. DOVER - Dewey Clifton "Click" Evans, Sr. passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Courtland Manor Nursing Facility, Dover, Del. of complications of Alzheimer's disease. He was born August 5, 1925 in Nash County, N.C. to Wiley Mann Evans and Neva Stancil Evans. He was a 50 year resident of Portsmouth, Va. and was employed for 44 years with the CSX Railroad System there. He was a charter member of Sweethaven Baptist Church, Portsmouth, Va., Proctors Chapel, Rocky Mount, N.C. and Calvary Chapel Ocean Gateway in Salisbury, Md. He was a Master Mason and a member of Tidal Wave Lodge #273 Portsmouth, Va. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Irene Bottoms Evans; a sister Lois Conaway; and brothers Linwood and Walter "Monk" Evans. He is survived by a son, Dewey "D.C." Evans, Jr. and his wife Judy, of Salisbury, Md.; a daughter, Lois A. Hill and her husband Scott, of Harrington, Del.; five grandchildren, Beverly Brown and her husband, Matt of Great Mills, Md., Christin Merriman and her husband, Marc of Chincoteague Island, Va., Justin Reynolds and his wife, Claudia of Severn, Md., Jason Hill of Wilmington, Del., and Julie Hill of Dover, Del.; five great grandchildren, Christopher Taylor of Capron, Va., Elizabeth and Amanda Reynolds of Severn, Md., Harrison and Savannah Merriman of Chincoteague, Va.; and a sister Dorothy Hawkins and husband Archie of Burlington. He leaves many nieces and nephews, especially George and Ann Evans of Rocky Mount, N.C., Sammy and Camilla Bailey of Sharpsburg, N.C. and lifelong friends Victor and Becky Smith of Portsmouth, Va. A viewing will be held at Johnson's Funeral Home, 661 English Road, Rocky Mount, N.C. on Sunday, July 25, 2010 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Services will be conducted at Johnson's Funeral Home conducted by Pastor Billy Webb on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with interment in Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
