MAGNOLIA - Dennis's personal two year journey with cancer ended 02/11/21 showered with an abundance of love from his family and closest friends.
Born in Dunkirk, N.Y., on April 18, 1950, Dennis was the son of the late Edward and Rose Rozumalski. From the age of 13 to his graduation from college Dennis resided in Erie, Pa.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Roy Fronzaglia, John Banks, James Banks and Kevin Banks.
Upon graduation from Grove City College, Grove City, Pa. Dennis was commissioned into the United States Air Force. Dennis retired in 1992 with the rank of Major at the place of his last assignment, the Dover Air Force Base in 1992 after 20 years of service. Dennis was recognized for his duty to our country as the recipient of numerous commendations. Dennis then embarked upon another path of service utilizing his Master's degree in Counseling in a wide range of capacities assisting others to include; managing a homeless center for men in Wilmington, Del., as a school counselor in both the Christiana and Appoquinimink Pubic School Districts, being recognized as the Delaware School Counselor of the Year in 1999. At the time of Dennis's retirement he was an Education Associate at the Delaware Department of Education, and as a Instructor at Wilmington University. Dennis served as a Court Appointed Student Advocate (CASA) for children in the Delaware Foster Care System, taking great pride in, and celebrating with great joy the adoptions of the children and their adoptive families that he supported through the adoption process.
Left to cherish the memories of this amazing man who touched so many lives are his wife, Margaret (née Banks); his children, Nathan Rozumalski (Hahwa), Erin Schutt (Bradley), Melissa Neri (Robert); and Margaret's children, Gina Edmison (Josh), Amy Wolf (Steve), Tony Desiderio (Ashley); thirteen grandchildren; his siblings, David Rozumalski (Connie), Patricia Fronzaglia, Ronald Rozumalski (Tricia); along with Margaret's siblings, his nephews, nieces and countless friends.
Dennis's passions were being with his children and grandchildren, sailing anywhere from Maine to North Carolina. When not on the water you most likely would find him on a golf course, playing pickleball or at a Crab Feast at a local fire house. Additionally, Dennis was very active in supporting children and adults with special needs through the Delaware Special Olympics, especially the Polar Bear Plunge, the Down Syndrome Association of Delaware, the 321 Foundation and the Delaware Foundation Reaching Citizens (DFRC). Dennis was active in several projects and groups in the Champions' Club Community where he and Margaret have resided since 2010.
Dennis's family will forever be grateful for all the love and support during his journey, along with the excellent care provided by the Helen Graham Cancer Research Center. In lieu of flowers, donations to Delaware Special Olympics are encouraged.
