He was born July 14, 1961, in Chester, Pennsylvania to David L. Hinzman, Sr. and the late Ann Marie Hanthorn.
Dave was raised in North Wilmington, where he graduated from Delcastle Vo-Tech in the Hotel and Restaurant pathway. He then attended Widener school of Hotel and Restaurant Management. Starting at Howard Johnson's in Dover, Dave met many people through his work. He loved to make conversation with his patrons. It was a source of joy for him and the customers alike. He worked there for several years early in his career. He continued his career in the restaurant business working at Lone Star, Ruby Tuesdays, Bob Evans, and finally IHOP. He was always willing to go above and beyond for his employees. He was a kind, compassionate man who loved his family and friends. Dave was an avid outdoors man. He enjoyed camping, biking, and kayaking. He loved exploring all the woodlands in Delaware and was always looking for new hiking spots. He also enjoyed woodworking and horticulture, specifically creating bonsai trees. He had a soft spot for animals and had recently lost his beloved dog, Skye.
In addition to his mother; he was preceded in death by his loving wife, together for 19 years, Laura Hinzman.
