MAGNOLIA - David K. Carlson of Magnolia, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at home. He was 58. David was born November 11, 1956 in Somerville, Massachusetts to the late Herbert Carlson and Louise Barrett. He served in the United States Air Force in 1976 and retired after 24 years of service in disaster preparedness. While stationed in Korea, he devoted much of his time to an orphanage there, mentoring and teaching kids. After his military career, he worked for the Delaware Emergency Management Agency as a Planner and State Hazard Mitigation Officer for 15 years. He loved his family so much and his two granddaughters were the light of his life. He enjoyed woodworking and carpentry. David played hockey, football, golf, darts, billiards and poker. He was a true New Englander fan, totally loyal to the Patriots, the Red Sox, the Bruins, and the Celtics. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank; his sisters, Carol, Diane, Linda, and Sandra. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Conchita Corpuz Sanchez of Magnolia; son, Steven L. Carlson and his wife Joanna of Camden; daughters, Jennifer Canales and Katherine Carlson both of Magnolia; brothers Herbert, Stanley, Richard, Kenneth and Steven Carlson; sisters, Roberta Keenan, Joanne Ruggero and Karen Livenstein; granddaughters, Olivia and Emily. A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, May 2, 2015 with a remembrance service at 10 a.m. at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Monday, May 4, 2015 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover. Interment will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear. Letters of condolences may be sent and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
