On December 18, 2020 Dave passed away peacefully at Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital. He was born Aug. 28, 1948 in Tynemouth, England.
Dave was employed with the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier for 25 years. Prior to the post office, he served in the Merchant Marines and sailed to many ports around the world. Then, he served in the Army with an Honorable Discharge. Upon retirement, Dave and his wife moved to Dover, Del. He volunteered at the Habitat for Humanity Restore for which he received an award for Outstanding Service. Dave is a friend of Bill W., and has been an active member for 37 years.
Dave was predeceased by his mother, Joan Ritchie Cummins; and his father, Harold Cummins.
Dave is survived by his loving wife, Laurie A. (Kessler) Cummins of 33 years; his brother, Paul Cummins and wife Lee Cummins; mother-in-law, Avis Kessler; brother-in-law, Robert Kessler and his wife Joyce Sutcliffe; and sister-in-law, Lynn Meyer.
Family and friends of Dave may do a walk through greeting from 11 a.m. to 12 noon with a service at 12 noon, Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021 at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover. Burial will be at a later date at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to AA World Services, Grand Central Station, PO Box 459 New York, NY 10163.
In consideration of protecting the family and friends health, public health guidelines enacted for the prevention of the spread of covid-19 virus, limitations on gatherings, physical distancing, use of hand sanitation and masks are in place.
