OCEAN CITY, Md. - David C. Royston, of Ocean City, formerly of Dover, Del., passed away Friday, Aug. 14, 2009. He was 50. David was born July 15, 1959, in Harlingen, Texas, to John F. Royston and Nancy L. Jones Royston. He attended Caesar Rodney High School and graduated from 71st High School in Fayetteville, N.C. He served in the United States Air Force as a Loadmaster for C141's, he also worked for Federal Express, Gemini, Air Cargo and Focus Air. He was an avid reader of History books, loved the beach and enjoyed skiing. David was preceded in death by his brother, John "Jackie" Royston in 1996. He is survived by his parents, Jack and Nancy Royston of Dover; sons, Desmond and Kyle Royston of Ocean City, and Kirk Royston of Raeford, N.C.; his brother, Jim Royston and wife Julie of Middletown; one nephew and three nieces. David is also survived by his former wife, Debra of Raeford, N.C. Memorial services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 19, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 209 S. State Street, Dover. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m., Tuesday evening at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 209 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901 or Community Church of Ocean Pines, 11227 Racetrack Road, Berlin, MD 21811-3276. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
