Daniel Gears, 43

NEWARK - Daniel Gears, age 43, of Newark, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009. Daniel worked for Delcard Mechanical Contractors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed scuba diving and riding his motorcycle. He is survived by his mother, Theresa A. Gears, of Rehoboth; his brother Robert E. Gears and his wife Ruth; his sister, Deborah A. Corbett and her husband William; his girlfriend, Debra Moser and her children; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Edgar F. Gears in 1995. The family would like to thank the Bayada Nurses for their care of Dan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 at Holy Family Church, 15 Gender Rd., Newark. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone, Rd., Wilmington, on Friday, Oct. 2, from 6 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Compassionate Care Hospice, 702-B Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, DE 19805 or to the Helen Graham Cancer Research Center, 4735 Ogletown-Stanton Rd., Newark, DE 19713.
