Dallas Ellwood Davis, 77
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Dallas Ellwood Davis of Chestertown died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006, in Chestertown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was 77.
Mr. Davis was born Sept. 20, 1929, in Ironsides, son of the late Robert E. and Florence Agnes (Thomas) Davis.
He graduated from La Plata High School, and from Washington College with a bachelor of science in chemistry and biology in 1950. Mr. Davis then attended State University of New York and completed a master"s degree in business administration at Southern Methodist University.
In 1952 he married Joy Lee Meadows, and they resided in Baltimore.
Mr. Davis worked as a supervisor for several chemical manufacturing plants until he took a position with the U.S. Postal Service. He resided in many different locations while serving as an executive with the postal service until retiring after over 20 years of service in 1995.
Shortly after moving to Chattanooga, Tenn., his wife preceded him in death in December 1998. He remarried to Peggy Schauber of Chestertown in February 2001.
Mr. Davis enjoyed hunting.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Karen Myers of Rossville, Ga., Debra Hillman of Chicago and Joan Ray of Dallas; a brother, LeRoy Davis of LaPlata; a stepdaughter, Phyllis S. Keefe of Port Republic; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be noon today in Calvary Assembly of God, East Ridge, Tenn.
Burial will follow in Lakewood Memorial Gardens East, Chattanooga.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Calvary Assembly of God, 1200 S. Seminole Dr., East Ridge, TN 37412.
