GEORGETOWN - Dale V. Wootten of Georgetown died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, in Christiana Care-Christiana Hospital, Newark. He was 67.
Mr. Wootten was born in Georgetown, son of the late Marshall and Bernice (Parker) Wootten.
He was a heavy-equipment manager for Sussex Conservation for 35 years, retiring in 2001, and an owner of standardbred racehorses.
He enjoyed boating, fishing and riding his bicycle.
Mr. Wootten was a member of Carey"s United Methodist Church, Millsboro.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Dawn Lynn Wootten, in 1990.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Eva (Haddad) Wootten; a son and a daughter-in-law, Dean Alan and Lisa Wootten of Georgetown; a granddaughter, Chelsea D. Wootten; a sister and a brother-in-law, Peggy and Arthur Cathell of Millsboro; a brother and a sister-in-law, Ronald Lee and Carla Wootten of Richmond, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call one hour earlier. The Rev. Arthur Backus will officiate.
