McFarlin DOVER - Curtis D. McFarlin passed away, Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016 at home with his family by his side. Mr. McFarlin was born, Apr. 3, 1937 in Tryon, Okla. to the late Harve McFarlin and Myrtle D. Huffman McFarlin. He served in the United States Air Force in Dover. In 1962 Mr. McFarlin went to work for General Foods in Dover, where he worked in Engineering Services before operating the Dream Whip Tower where he spent the majority of his career until his retirement in 1998. He was a member for over 40 years at Capitol Baptist Church in Dover. Mr. McFarlin loved playing golf at Garrison's Lake on the men's league. He also enjoyed gardening, traveling, tinkering with engines and a good practical joke. Curtis was always out and about in his Moores Meadows neighborhood and willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Mr. McFarlin welcomed NASCAR fans to camp or park on his property during the races for over 25 years, as well as for Firefly. But most of all, his greatest joy in life was bringing people to the Lord Jesus Christ. Mr. McFarlin is survived by his wife of nine years, Marilyn Kirby Seeman McFarlin of Dover; daughter, Linda Oliver and husband Steve of Smyrna; son, Michael McFarlin and wife Laura of Laure; children, Karyn Kenney, Jeanette McGuinness and husband Walt and Glenn Kirby and wife Kristen; siblings, Ruby O'Hern, Maxine Olivier and husband Elie and Margie Smith; grandchildren, Marquetta Brown and husband Steve, Robert Messick, Jr. and wife Kristin, Michelle Broadway, Kelly Chance and husband Jeremiah, Michael McFarlin and wife Amy, Jessica Hudson and husband Michael, Diane Chance, Caroline McFarlin and Caleb McFarlin, Kaitlyn Kazmierczak and Shaun Kenney, Brayden and Landon McGuinness, Logan, Allyson and Ashlyn Kirby; 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 12 P.M., Friday, Dec. 9, 2016 at Capitol Baptist Church, 401 Kesselring Avenue, Dover. Friends may call from 10-12 p.m. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
