DOVER - Constance ""Connie"" Biddle of Dover, a devoted and beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2016. She was 78.
Connie was born in Renovo, Pa. on April 18, 1938, to the late Jack Smyth and Eva Mae (Stone) Smyth. Connie's husband, Grover, preceded her in death in 2006; as did her sister, Pam, in 2015.

She is survived by her three sons, Steve and his wife, Linda, of Phoenix Ariz., Mark and his wife, Laurie, of Dover, and Chris and his wife, Barrett, of Wayland, Mass.; her brother, Joe Smyth and wife, Madonna, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; her sister, Lisa Bason, of Prescott, Ariz.; brother-in-law, Larry Biddle and husband, David Warner, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; sister-in-law, Nancy Jo Lambertson and husband, Albert, of Dover; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Connie also is survived by her adoring grandchildren, Kate, Stephen, Alison, Shannon, Erin, Asher, and Penelope. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and many faithful friends.

Connie moved with her family to Dover in 1953, graduating from Dover High School and studying pre-med at Bucknell University. Her first job was at the Delaware State News, at the time owned by her father. When her children were young, she was a bookkeeper for The Little School in Dover, and later worked for the State of Delaware as a federal food program manager. She was an active member of People's Church of Dover for almost 50 years and enjoyed singing in the choir. Connie also was very involved in The Shepherd Place, a Dover nonprofit shelter for women and children, as a long-time member of its Board of Directors.

Among many passions in her life, Connie especially enjoyed playing bridge with close friends. She was a voracious reader and trivia buff. Her love of travel took her many places including an Alaskan cruise in 2015, and to Ireland, Europe, Canada, the Caribbean, Mexico, and on a Mediterranean cruise.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, September 17, 2016, at People's Church, 46 South Bradford Street, Dover. For those who wish, a family visitation will be held at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Connie's memory to The Shepherd Place, www.shepherdplace.org, or People's Church Memorial Fund, www.peopleschurchofdover.org

Condolences may be sent and a guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
