Mr. Lynch was a lifelong resident of Milford where he attended school and shared 61 years of marriage with his wife Helena. He honorably served our country during World War II in the Army Air Corps as a teletype mechanic, stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. Subsequently, he built houses in the Milford community, including Lynch Heights, but his lifetime passion was farming. He was founder and president of the family farming corporation, CE Lynch & Sons, which continues to operate today. Mr. Lynch also retired from Playtex after 40 years of service.
For many years, he enjoyed go kart racing with his family throughout Delaware and Maryland. He was a past president of the Milford Go Kart Club. He also served on the Farmland Preservation Advisory Board. Most importantly, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife, Helena Lemex Lynch; brothers, Richard and Lemuel Lynch; and a sister, Emma Coverdale.
He is survived by two daughters, Joanne Stickel and husband Curt of Milford and Kay Warren and her husband Steve of Felton; two sons, Gregory W. Lynch and his wife Diane and Claude E. Lynch, III and his wife Gwen of Milford; six grandchildren, Amanda Towers and her husband Alex of Greenwood, Lindsey Warren of Felton, Jennifer Strickland and her husband Cliff of Milford, Danielle Wallace and her husband Matthew of Middletown, Dylan Lynch and Greg Lynch, Jr. of Milford; a nephew, Ashley Wolfe of Milford; a brother-in-law, Vernon Lemex of Kemah, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Lynch of Greenwood; three sisters, Noralee Wilkins of Milford, June Bailey of Lady Lake, Fla., and Alma Rigtin of Camden Point, Mo.; and 9 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Evan, Madison, Isla, Jaron, Vada, Wyatt, Raelyn and Kinsley.
The family wants to thank the many care givers at State Street Assisted Living, Christiana Care VNA and Seasons Hospice for their compassionate care. The family will receive visitors at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Avenue, Milford on Thursday 5/24, from 11:00 a.m., with a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be at Milford Community Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests making a donation to a favorite charity in honor of Mr. Lynch.
