Clarkson 'Bud' Smith, 85 MILTON - Clarkson "Bud" Smith, of Milton, formerly of Luray, Va., passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010, in his home. He was 85. Mr. Smith was born in Sterling, Va., son of the late Peter Clarkson and Esther R. (Keys) Smith. He worked in construction with EA Baker for many years, retiring in 1995. Bud was an army veteran and member of the 188th Parachute Infantry and a demolition specialist. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1946 as a Private First Class. In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Elinor (Heffron) Smith. He is survived by two daughters, Peggy Ann Rose of Laurel, Md., and Donna Marie Smith of Milton; a son, Thomas Clarkson Smith of Church Hill, Md.; five grandchildren, Johnny Moore of Laurel, Md., Dawn Collins of Beltsville, Md., Shawn Moore of Kentucky, Tamara Harless of Moneta, Va., and Brittany Smith, Washington, D.C.; six great-grandchildren; and a beloved niece, Bonnie Armstrong of Locust Grove, Va. A funeral service will be noon, Tuesday, March 9, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal Street, Milton, with visitation after 11 a.m. Burial will be in Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963; or Beebe Medical Center, Foundation Center, 902 Savannah Rd., Lewes, DE 19958.
