Charles W. Strock, 84

MILFORD - Charles W. Strock of Milford died due to a massive stroke Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, in Christiana Care-Christiana Hospital, Newark. He was 84.

Mr. Strock was born June 21, 1923, in Reading, Pa., son of the late John David and Katherine (Ranck) Strock.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Forces, serving during World War II.

Mr. Strock owned and operated Coatesville Boating Center in Coatesville, Pa., for 35 years, dealing in the sales and service of outboard engines. He retired from the business in 1988.

He enjoyed fishing and cooking.

Mr. Strock was a member of Milford Moose Lodge 2316, American Legion Post 3, Harrington, and Milford Elks Lodge 2401, where he was awarded the title of "Elk of the Year" in 2007. He also was a member of the Cedar Neck Church, Milford.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two half-brothers, Robert Rudy and Harold Rudy.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Serena W. Strock; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Betty Jean and Richard Bowen of Levittown, Pa., and Ann C. and Greg Waddington of New Holland, Pa.; a brother and a sister-in-law, John Herbert and Dorothy Strock of Waterford, Mich., and three grandchildren, John Charles Bowen, and his wife, Jeannene, David Waddington and Paul Waddington.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford, where an Elks service will be held.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, followed by a reception at the Moose Lodge.

Burial will be in Honey Brook Presbyterian Cemetery, Honey Brook, Pa.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Milford Elks Lodge 2401, P.O. Box 63, Milford, DE 19963; or to the Milford Moose Lodge 2316, 20142 Beaver Dam Road, Milford, DE 19963.
