Charles W. Morris

SMYRNA - Charles W. Morris, Sr. passed away, Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Kent General Hospital.
Mr. Morris was born April 22, 1934 in Betterton, Md. to the late Hugh J. Morris, Sr. and Elvie Elizabeth Banzhaf Morris.
He served in the United States Army for two years. Mr. Morris was an electrician for Amtrak, retiring after 25 years in 2001. He enjoyed carving and woodworking, gardening, hunting, fishing, bird watching and taking cat naps. Mr. Morris was a connoisseur of good food and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Modern Maturity Center's Carving Club.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Hugh J. Morris, Jr., Walter, Edward and Harry James Morris; and sisters, Annabelle Howett, Louise Miller and Elvie Albanese.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia A. Bennett Morris of Smyrna; sons, Charles W. Morris, Jr. (Rosario) of Chipiona, Spain, Robert Morris of Smyrna and Michael Morris (Donna) of Dover; daughter, Laurie Drass of Dover; brother, Paul Morris of Milton; sister, Harriett Haile of Wilmington; grandchildren, Molly Drass, Ashley, Sara, Ana Morris, Brenda Hamburg and Brooks Hobson; great grandchildren, Trevor Hamburg, Kala Hobson and Camryn Hartnett.
Funeral services will be held 12 p.m., Monday, July 23, 2018 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Interment will be at Gracelawn Cemetery, New Castle.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the American Heart Association of Delaware, 200 Continental Drive, Suite 101, Newark, DE 19713.
