Charles E. 'Buddy' Murphy, 75

SMYRNA - Charles E. "Buddy" Murphy, of Smyrna, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at this residence after a lengthy illness. He was 75.

Charles was born in Townsend, the son of the late Robert J. and Martha Agnes (Shahan) Murphy.

He was an avid fan of all car races, especially NASCAR and a member of the Eastern Shore Bluegrass Association of Marydel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert T. Murphy Sr.; and a sister, Elizabeth Rash.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Doris S. Murphy; his son, Jay R. Murphy; a sister, Ruth Shockley of Blackbird; and several nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Robert T. Murphy and a special niece, Connie Shockley.

Funeral services will be noon Saturday in the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, where family and friends may visit one hour prior to service.

Interment will follow in Townsend Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Murphy's memory to Cheswold United Methodist Church, 97 Main Street, Cheswold, DE 19936.
