MILFORD - Charles E. Gill, Jr., passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital. Mr. Gill was born in Lewes, son of the late Charles E., Sr., and Isabelle (Brown) Gill. He had worked many years for Safeway and was an assistant store manager when the chain closed several area stores. He then worked with American General as an Insurance Sales Agent until his retirement in 2001. Charles was a member of First Baptist Church of Milford. He had served in the Army National Guard, stationed out of Milford. His hobbies included computers, electronics and he also liked airplanes. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dora (Alexander) Gill; two daughters, Dawn Kelley and husband, Chris, of New Market, Md., and Sherrie Wilkins and husband, Mike of Lincoln; five grandchildren, Jessica Wilkins, Riley Kelley, Ethan Wilkins, Bridget Kelley and Gavin Wilkins; two brothers, Bob Gill and wife Louise, and John Gill; three sisters and brother-in-laws, Carol Staub (Bill), Arlene Wilkerson (David) and Hester Downes (Donnie); and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. A visitation will be held Sunday, June 24, 2012, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2012, at the First Baptist Church of Milford, 6062 Old Shawnee Road, Milford. Burial will be in Slaughter Neck Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggests contributions, in Charles' memory, be made to the church.
