MARYDEL - Charles (Chuck) Beck went to his heavenly home on Dec. 12, 2018.
Chuck was born in Colcord, Okla. on March 25, 1937 to Ross and Lulu Beck and was the oldest of eight children. After graduation, Chuck enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Dover Air Force Base. One night in 1960, Chuck went to a dance at the YMCA in Wilmington where he met the love of his life, Catherine (Rossi).
Catherine and Chuck were married and would soon move their family to a small farm in Marydel where they raised their four children. Chuck worked for the Coca Cola Company and later Leaseway Transportation. Chuck loved gardening, fishing and hunting, but will best be remembered as a devoted husband, father and friend, and a "gentle giant". He was a member of the Marydel Volunteer Fire Department, Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, was past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council #4182, and past Faithful Navigator of the Bishop Cartwright Assembly #149.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of almost 58 years; his children, Charles (Necia), Christina (Vic), Mary Lisa and Jennifer (Charlie); his grandchildren, Charles, Catherine (Troy), Kimberly, Anthony, Victoria, Cassandra and Brooke; one great grandson, Trey; his seven siblings in Oklahoma, and a multitude of nieces and nephews, all of whom he dearly loved.
Visitaion will be Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St. Dover. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church in Marydel, Md. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Cathedral Cemetery in Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Chuck's memory be made to Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, P.O. Box 399, Marydel, MD 21649-0399 or the Knights of Columbus Council #4182, 219 Vepco Blvd., Camden, DE 19934.
