GEORGETOWN - Catherine Ann Hudson passed away suddenly and peacefully on January 25, 2021. She was born on February 11, 1948, daughter of the late Herman J. and Frances (Shockley) Hudson.
Cathy was a proud graduate of Georgetown High School, Class of 1966 and the Milford Memorial Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1969.
She successfully pursued her career as a nurse, counselor, and mental health advisor at various institutions including Milford Hospital, Stockley Center, Crozer-Chester Medical Center of PA, Crossroad Services, and later retired from the State of Delaware.
Cathy volunteered for many years as a genealogy researcher at the Edward H. Nabb Center of Salisbury University. She was in popular demand by many Sussex Countians who requested she trace their family history. She enjoyed reciting to her own family the pedigree chart of all Hudson, Donovan, Shockley, and Wilson ancestors who settled and lived in Maryland and Delaware as early as the 1600s and 1700s.
Cathy held many local, state, regional, and national leadership offices of her beloved Daughters of the American Revolution; BPWA; was an honorary member of the Delmarva Model Railroad Club; the Sussex County Republican Party; and the Class of '66 Red Hat Ladies Club. She adored the companionship of her pet dog, "Mr. Jake Hudson" and bird "Scooter".
Cathy is survived by her son, William E.P. Hudson; and her cousins, Dr. Charles R. Hudson (Linda), John B. Hudson (Jessie), Barbara A. Bant (Bob), L. Glenn Hudson (Kathy), Janice R. Porter, Rodney "Bo" Hudson (Jeanette), Shirley H. Chaney, and Charles W. Hudson (Ruth).
Cathy will be dearly missed by all her friends and especially by all of her "next" generation cousins who were blessed by Cathy's love, laughter, encouragement, and thoughtful holiday presents. She will be forever remembered as a glowing example of the meaning of family, pride, and joy.
Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic and out of an abundance of caution for family and friends all services will be private.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Dodd- Carey Chapel, Georgetown, Del.
Memorial contributions may be made in Cathy's memory to Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship Fund, ATTN: Denise Clemons, 16986 Black Marlin Circle, Lewes, DE 19958, checks payable to DSSDAR.
