FELTON - Carolyn E. Burton, a lifetime resident of Detroit, Maine, and most recently of Felton, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, in Green Valley Pavilion, Smyrna. She was 79.
Mrs. Burton was born June 12, 1927, in Madison, Maine, daughter of the late Eugene and Wynona (Crocker) Field.
She was a homemaker, cashier in several country stores and worked in a shoe factory. She also worked at the voting polls in Detroit.
Her favorite pastime was being with her family. She also enjoyed reading, tatting, cross stitch, knitting and crocheting, and won several awards for her unique afghans and handmade dolls.
Mrs. Burton was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Newport, Maine.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Burton, in 1998; a brother, Leon Field; and a sister, Kathleen Scott.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Pastor Dan and Kathy Burton of Felton and David and Reta Burton of Pensacola, Fla.; three sisters, Gladys Alger of Peachtree City, Ga., Maxine Schissler of Detroit, and Joyce Partridge of Kenduskeg, Maine; four grandchildren, John Burton, Matthew Burton, Jason Burton and Jessica Curtis; and three great-grandchildren, Cody Burton, Rachael Curtis and Olivia Burton.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2006, in Calvary Baptist Church, Newport, Maine.
