FELTON - Carol Ann Schulties of Felton went home to be with the Lord Saturday, May 19, 2007, in her home, with her family by her side, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 57.

Born in Summit, N.J., she was the daughter of Edna A. McCollum and the late Edward M. McCollum.

Carol Ann was a very loving and caring person who put other people's needs ahead of her own. She lived her life as a strong Christian wife, mother and friend to all. She will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife and mother.

In 1987, her commitment to her family was recognized when she was chosen as Delaware's Young Mother of the Year.

Carol Ann enjoyed doing all types of crafts, including needlepoint, cross stitch, quilting and scrap-booking. She was also an excellent seamstress. In addition, she enjoyed working in her garden and spending time on the beach.

As an avid walker, she could be seen in the mornings walking through Felton with her girlfriends.

While her sons were growing up, she was very involved with everything they did as their den mother, baseball team mom and PTA leader. Whatever her husband and sons were involved in, and whatever they needed, mom was there.

Carol Ann worked as a bookkeeper for Davis Tax and Consulting for more than 18 years.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, John A. Schulties of Felton; her sons, P. Michael Schulties and his fiancee Rachel S. Schwab of Ridgewood, N.J., and Gregory J. Schulties and his fiancee Jordan R. Deputy of Felton; her brothers, Ted M. McCollum and his wife Cheryl of Hillsborough, N.J., and James M. McCollum and his wife Linda of Cumming, Ga.; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Phillip J. and Mary Ann Schulties of Felton; two nieces; and six nephews.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Highway, Harrington, where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Carol Ann's name to Manship Chapel Building Fund, 4912 Burnite Mill Road, Felton, DE 19943; or ACS Hope Lodge Baltimore; 636 West Lexington St., Baltimore, MD 21201.
