MILLINGTON, Md. - C. Joseph Edwards Sr. of Millington died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, in Chester River Hospital, Chestertown. He was 74.
Mr. Edwards was born Dec. 27, 1932, in Massey, son of the late John and Eva (O'Neal) Edwards.
He was a lifetime resident of Kent County, where he farmed for 58 years, retiring in 2003.
Mr. Edwards also did custom farm work in Cecil and Queen Anne's counties.
His family and farming was his life. He also enjoyed baseball and NASCAR.
Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his daughter, Cathy Jo Edwards, in 2004; a sister, Elizabeth Mazcko; and an infant brother, John Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jean (Pratt) Edwards; a son, C. Joseph Edwards Jr. of Millington; two daughters, Jeanne Schwaninger and her husband Kurt of Hartly, Del., and Debra Lee MacCannell of Greenwood, Del.; four sisters, Carolyn Coleman of Golts, Virginia Hollett of Kennedyville and Eva Mae Wiest and Dorothy Chance, both of Millington; a brother, James T. Edwards of Kenton, Del.; two granddaughters, Heather Bernat of Dover, Del., and Angie Colatriano of Wilmington, Del.; and two great-grandsons, Ian Bernat and Liam Bernat.
A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Massey Cemetery, with the Rev. Edwin Pippin officiating.
Memorials may be offered to St. Clement's Church, P.O. Box 158, Massey, MD 21650.
