FELTON - Burton C. Wilson Sr., of Felton, died Friday, May 29, 2009, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 79. He was born in Lewes to the late Benjamin D. and Ella E. Wilson. Mr. Wilson served in the army during World War II and the Korean War. He was in Korea serving when his first child was born. He worked in the motor pool driving a bus for over 35 years at the Dover Air Force Base. Mr. Wilson belonged to the VFW. Mr. Wilson was a jack of all trades and a good mechanic. He often held two jobs to support his family. He loved going to auctions with his wife. Mr. Wilson's hobbies included working on cars, playing board games and cards, and he loved to cook and taught his sons how to cook. He also enjoyed crabbing and clamming at the Indian River Outlet. He loved to tell stories and was loved by all as a "ladies man." He had a love for animals, raising ducks and taking care of his dogs. In his spare time he loved to play UNO and was in the top 40 online UNO. Mr. Wilson was well liked by everyone he met and will be greatly missed by friends and family. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; son, Eugene; and daughters, Donna Marie Wilson and Donna Mae Wilson; three brothers, Thomas Wilson, Harry Wilson, and Lester Wilson; and four sisters, Ethel Martz, Sarah Moorhead, Frieda McCoog and Anna E. Long. He is survived by sons, Burton C. Wilson Jr. of Union S.C., Donald L. Wilson of Felton, Ronald J. Wilson of Dover, and Steven Wilson of Felton; daughters, Mary M. Straw of Felton, and Nancy E. Wilson of Felton; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; and his dog and constant companion, Petey. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, June 4, in Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington, where a visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday evening. Interment will be 1 p.m. in Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Millsboro.
