Bettie Louise Smith, 76
MILFORD - Bettie Louise Smith, of Milford, died peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, March 20, 2008. She was 76.
She was born in Milford Hospital to Martha K. and William T. Sneath.
She lived all her life in Harrington, until moving to Milford 18 years ago.
Bettie Louise was a true people person, which is evident in her working career. She worked at Burtons Sport Shop, the Lunchbox, Pensupreme and Reeses Theater, all in Harrington.
Recently, Bettie was the door greeter at Wal-Mart in Milford, a job she loved.
Her family remembers her love of gardening and flowers.
She enjoyed playing puzzle games and putting puzzles together.
Bettie was a member and former senior regent of the Women of the Moose Chapter 1229 in Harrington, former member of the Capt. Jonathan Caldwell Chapter of the DAR in Milford, former den mother for the Harrington Cub Scouts Pack 76 and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Harrington.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, in 2006.
She is survived by four sons, William V. Smith and his wife Pat of Milford, D. Steven Smith and his wife Sharon of Milford, Norman T. Smith and his wife Mary Christine of Milford and James "Andy" Smith and his wife Delta of Milford; two daughters, Cindie L. Trader of Milford and Christie Thompson and her fiancé Herb Floyd of Frederica; one sister, Martha Jean Lindale of Milford; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Price Funeral Home, 6 Dorman St., Harrington, where friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Monday.
Interment will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests donations to Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.
