DOVER - Barbara Powell of Dover passed away Thursday, June 28, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She lived a full, active and enjoyable life to age 74.
Mrs. Powell was born March 17, 1933, first child of the late Roy W. Deats and Catherine Calhoun.
She began her career at Playtex in Dover. With her first husband, she then worked as a secretary/business manager for O.B. Williams Electric. Later, she returned to Playtex as an accountant, was secretary for attorney Joe Leszez, and finally was an administrative secretary for the Kent County Department of Human Services.
In her spare time, she mostly enjoyed spending time with her family. She also liked to garden, do needlepoint, recycle and travel to sunny places with those she loved.
Mrs. Powell"s service to the community continued after retirement with countless volunteer hours as a life member with Kent General Hospital Junior Board, Wesley United Methodist Church, Eastern Star Victory Chapel Chapter 15, Rolling Acres Homemakers and the Round Table Club of Wyoming. She provided assistance to all who asked it of her.
She is survived by her husband, Snooky Powell; a brother, Ralph Deats and his wife Fran; a sister, Shirley Callaway and her husband Ken; two sons, Mike Williams and his wife Pam, and their children, Zach and Zoey, and Brett Williams and his wife Karen and their son, Weston; a step-granddaughter, Patti Fransisco and her husband Paul and their son Ryan and his wife Megan Francisco.
Services for her life were held Monday in the Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St., Dover.
Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery, Dover.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 209 S. State St., Dover, DE 19904.
