Arvil Gordon Conk died October 18, 2021 surrounded by loved ones.
Gordon was preceded in death by his first wife, Janith; and son, James.
He is survived by his second wife, Barbara; his brother, Blaine; and children, Randolph, Terri, Lorraine, Barbara, and Catherine; 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Gordon enlisted in the USAF in 1948 and later attended Officer Candidate School eventually becoming a Command Pilot. Before retiring in 1969 with the rank of Major, his 21 years of active duty included playing saxophone in the military band and various flying assignments such as flying B-47s with Strategic Air Command. After graduating from Delaware State University, he taught at Dover High School until leaving to work with his son James at Conk's Communication Service. Gordon was very active in the Community of Christ Church holding many administrative and priesthood offices until he stepped down from his duties as an Evangelist. In 2010, Gordon married Barbara Edwards, with whom he traveled the 49 continental states and Scotland. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
His memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Camden, Del., October 23, 2021 at 10 a.m. Interment with military honors Monday, October 25, 2021, 10 a.m. at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, Del.
