CAMDEN, Del. - Arthur A. Weeks, Sr. passed away peacefully at home on January 22, 2022 where he had been surrounded by his loving family.
Art was born on July 5, 1928, in Litchfield, Conn., the 11th of 15 children. He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1952 and was stationed at Eielson AFB in Fairbanks, Alaska. He moved to Camden following discharge, married, and continued to work as a general contractor for most of his life in the Kent County area. Art was physically active all his life and was still doing yardwork and driving to Hall's Restaurant in the morning for a cup of coffee. He fractured his hip on January 5, 2022 and was not able to recover.
He was predeceased by his parents, Treadwell and Lizzie Weeks; 11 brothers, Carlton, Lawrence, Wilson, Willard, Treadwell Jr., Paul, Burtis, Robert, Richard, Walter, and Henry; and one sister, Ruth Zeigler; and a grandson, Arthur A. Weeks III.
Art is survived by his wife of 69 years, Doris Kruppa Weeks; two sisters, Marjorie Voshell of Camden, and Betty Newton of Northfield, Conn.; one son, Art Weeks, Jr. (Michele) of Magnolia; two daughters, Valerie Rivera (José) of Frederica, and Brenda Haldi (Tom) of Summerville, S.C. He is also survived by five grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, numerous relatives and friends, and his dog Kylee.
Art chose to be cremated. A Celebration of Life is being planned for early July.
