With profound sadness and eternal love, we announce the passing of Angel David Aguilar, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and proud veteran, who passed away surrounded by his loving family.
Born on April 4, 1948, to Jose and Sabina Aguilar, Angel lived a life rooted in love, service, and unwavering dedication to family and country. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, retiring after over 20 years of honorable service, followed by a second distinguished career with the Delaware Department of Transportation, where he worked for over 12 years.
Angel was the beloved husband of Sonia Aguilar, his partner in life and love for more than 57 years. Together, they built a family that brought him immense pride and joy. He is survived by his two sons, Angel D. Aguilar Jr. (wife Ann Marie Aguilar) and Danny R. Aguilar (wife Tammy J. Aguilar). He was a brother to Richard Aguilar, and brother-in-law to Lorraine Perez.
Angel’s legacy continues through his grandchildren: Kirsten Hawkins (husband Christopher Hawkins), Courtney Aguilar (fiancé Tyler Longfellow), Austin Aguilar, Grace Aguilar, Shona Fleming-Loyd, Alana Aguilar, Cyrus Fleming-Loyd, Josie Fleming-Loyd, Athena Fleming-Loyd, Atticus Fleming-Loyd, and Augustine Aguilar. He was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Paisley Rains, Caden Rains, Emmerson Longfellow, and Amelia Hawkins.
Angel had a deep love for salsa music, watching DIY YouTube videos, and spending time with his family. Whether he was tinkering with a new house project, experimenting with the latest technology, or insisting on fixing something himself, he approached every task with determination and curiosity. One of his most treasured memories was traveling to Cancun with his beloved Sonia and renewing their vows during their 50th anniversary celebration, surrounded by the family he adored.
Though a deeply private man, Angel had a generous heart and a quiet strength. He carried immense pride in his military service and found his greatest joy in the lives and accomplishments of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Angel’s presence in our lives was a gift, and his absence leaves a space that can never be filled. His love, laughter, and legacy will live on in every life he touched.
