Alice Winifred King, 82

MILLINGTON, Md. - Alice Winifred King, of Millington, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at her home in Millington. She was 82.

Mrs. King was born Feb. 16, 1925, in New Brunswick, N.J., the daughter of the late James T. Donnelly and Margaret "Kinney" Donnelly.

She attended elementary and high school in New Jersey.

In 1955 she and her late husband, Tobe F. King moved to Elkton where she began book keeping for his business.

Mrs. King worked until 1982.

She was a member of Sodality for Immaculate Conception Church, a member of the Women of the Moose and Moose the Family Fraternity Chapter 3000, the Millington American Legion. She also held a chair at VFW Post 652 and was member of the Auxiliary.

Mrs. King loved playing poker and playing shuffleboard as well as playing the slots and working in her garden and yard.

In addition to her husband, Tobe F. King, she was preceded in death by her son, John Dennis King; one grandchild, Cassandra Mae Figiel; five sisters and four brothers.

She is survived by two daughters, Barbara King McKeown and husband Wally of Elkton, and Cynthia King Figiel and husband Chris of Millington; eight grandchildren, John Dennis King Jr. of Tennessee, Jesse Dalton King of Hartly, Del., Dawn Marie Lofland of Millington, Caitlin Renee Figiel of Millington, Bill McKeown, Tobe McKeown, Ben McKeown, all of Elkton, and Larry Reed of Boone, N.C.; 15 great-grandchildren, J.D. King III of Dundalk, Mark Sky King of Dundalk, Allura McKeown, William McKeown, Tobe McKeown Jr., Alexis McKeown, Paul Ellwood, Christine Gsell, Ashely Gsell, Destiny McKeown, Trinity McKeown, Alex Reed, James Lofland, Kyle Lofland, and Liam Lofland; one great-great-grand daughter, Ella Foraker; three sisters-in-law; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Wally McKeown, Chris Figiel, John King Jr., Bill McKeown, Tobe McKeown, Ben McKeown, Larry Reed, Brad Lofland.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 370 W. Cypress St., Millington, where visitation will be held two hours prior.

Interment will be in Crumpton Cemetery, Crumpton.

Instead of flowers, contributions can be sent to the Vietnam Veterans Association, 1023 15th St. NW 2nd Floor Washington, DC 20005; or Chester River Hospital Center, 100 Brown Street, Chestertown, MD 21620.
