Alice (Kelsey) McMullan, 90
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Alice (Kelsey) McMullan of Chestertown died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, at the home of her daughter. She was 90.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on July 2, 1917, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (McLean) Kelsey.
Mrs. McMullan graduated from St. Joseph"s High School in New York, and in 1938 married John M. "Jack" McMullan.
They resided in Brooklyn and later Bayside, Queens, N.Y., where she served as one of the first school crossing guards.
Mrs. McMullan later worked with Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bayside, Queens, as a secretary for the rector, where she was also a member and served with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus.
Following their retirement, she and her husband moved to Jupiter, Fla., where she was a communicant with St. Jude"s Church. They lived in Jupiter from 1989 until moving to Chestertown in 2001.
In Chestertown, Mrs. McMullan was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Washington College Women"s League and the Red Hatters.
She was devoted to her family and was a well-loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, on Dec. 16, 2005.
She is survived by her daughter, Alice Marie Barron and her husband Bill of Worton; a son, Bill McMullan and his wife Mary of South Riding, Va.; her grandchildren, Robert Barron, Sally Cavanaugh, Billy McMullan and Tara Barton; her great-grandchildren, Abby, Shaelyn, Kelly, Liam, Bridget, Leah, Eileen and Kevin; a brother-in-law, James McMullan; her sisters-in-law, Mary McDonald and Veronica Vanderbeck; many nieces and nephews; a loving neighbor, Marie Gillin; and her sisters, Diane Livingstone and Elaine McCarron.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, High Street, Chestertown.
Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown.
Interment will be in Chester Cemetery.
