SEAFORD - Alice Evelyn Willis of Seaford died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2006, in her home. She was 102.
Mrs. Willis was born in Baltimore, daughter of the late Florence Selby and William Fitzsimmons. At the age of 5, her mother passed away, and she was raised by her aunt, Lottie Brodis of Federalsburg, Md.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Seaford for over 70 years, where she was a member of the Friendly Seniors, the Methodist Women and the Rebecca Circle.
Mrs. Willis was a charter member and belonged for over 50 years to the Acorn Club of Seaford. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Seaford Volunteer Fire Department and Associated Charities, and a volunteer at the Manor House and Nanticoke Memorial Hospital.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Albert Willis Sr., in 1989; her aunt, Lottie Brodis; a daughter-in-law, Sue Willis; and a son-in-law, Ben Cordrey.
She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, William E. and Beatrice Willis of Wilmington, Clarence A Willis Jr. of Groveland, Fla., and Robert C. and Patricia Willis of Baltimore; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Florence W. and Edwin James of Bridgeville, Evelyn L. Cordrey of Salisbury, Md., Helen W. and Hugh Harrell of Jarratt, Va., and Connie B. and Charles Frank Cummings of Seaford, with whom she lived; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, making five generations in all.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. John's United Methodist Church, Pine and Poplar streets, Seaford, where friends may call one hour earlier. The Rev. Boyd B. Etter will officiate.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Seaford.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. John's United Methodist Church, in memory of Alice E. Willis, P.O. Box 299, Seaford, DE 19973.
