CAMDEN - Albert F. Jessen 85 years young of Camden, passed away at Milford Memorial Hospital on July 2, 2014. He was born in Baltimore, Md. on October 31, 1928. As a young man, Mr. Jessen served his country while in the Air Force and later taught Physical Education for 35 years at Port Washington High School on Long Island, N.Y. He was an outstanding educator who was loved by his students and honored and admired by his peers. Prior to relocating to Camden, in 2005, Al retired from teaching in 1989 and moved to Washington, N.C. with his wife Ruthie where he played his favorite sport…Golf. He also enjoyed competing in the N.C. Senior Games for which he received many medals. He excelled in basketball, badminton, archery and track and field. Al is survived by his loving wife, Ruthie (Mikee); his three loyal and faithful pets, Tootsie, AJ and Coco; his three children, his son, Doug Jessen and his wife Vickie of N.C., Cathy Holmes of N.C. and Barbara Jessen of Maine. Also by his extended family which included his wife's four children, Russell Pamulo, Christine Petitto, Mackey Pamulo, Jr., Wayne Pamulo; and his seven grandchildren, Craig, Amanda, Marc, Mackey III, Nicole, Jessica, and Natalie; all of New York. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that contributions be made in his memory to First State Animal Center & SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934. At Al's request, a "Celebration of Life" gathering will be held at his home on Saturday, July 26, 2014. Letters of condolences can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
